Wine Tasting Party Planning
A wine tasting party is a most wonderful way to celebrate, but it does take some party planning to succeed. Wine tastings don't need to take place at a winery either. You can easily put together your own tasting with friends and family at home or another venue. Consider going online to pick up a menu of unique wines that you haven't tried before. If you live in an area with it's own wine making tradition, make a day of heading out to the local wineries and getting the makers to suggest their best wines for your party.
Whatever your taste preferences, it's a good idea to vary your selection. Get a white wine, blush, and red wine. Combine sweet and dry flavors with tart and bitter. Add in a few fruit and berry wines from the regional area. The wine menu is essential to your party planning, so have some fun with it.
Don't forget to pick up a few foods for nibbling on during the party. Most popular are cheese, pretzels, melba toast and other pick up items that don't require cooking or utensils. You can easily get away with decorative paper napkins and plastic wine glasses for this party. If you want make it more elegant simple wine glasses and small delicate dessert dishes will suffice for serving. Just remember to get plenty of glasses. It's traditional to use a new glass with each new wine you taste. So you'll need enough glasses for each guest to sample each of the different wines.
Wine tasting party planning doesn't end there either. It's important to give your guests a glass of water to keep with them during the tasting in order to rinse their palette with, plus, have plenty of comfortable seating for guests who end up a little tipsy at the party, or a spit bucket if you want to have guests spit after tasting their wine samples. Though, most people prefer to just drink it these days. Good luck with your wine tasting and have a great party. |
