* It is customary for the observance to take place at the beginning of nightfall on the day before Rosh Hashanah.
* During Rash Hashanah it is also customary to eat foods, during the evening meals, that symbolize sweetness, blessings and abundance.
* The Shofar is one of the most visual symbols of Rosh Hashanah. It is used to awaken the heart of every Jew no matter how old to repentance and a closer relationship to God.
