Neon Lights
At some point in their lives, everyone dreams of being a star and seeing their names in neon lights. At your next party, consider having a dress up party where everyone can either dress as they would if they were on the red carpet (elegant or rocker style…whatever it is that makes it work for you) or dress up as their favorite famous person.
Your neon lights party can be decorated with brightly colored Christmas lights or flexible tube lighting in bright colors to create your own version of neon lights. You can even hand out colored glow sticks or create wall art in glow stick tubing or florescent paint to replicate neon lights.
Create your own Hollywood walk of fame by making gold foil stars. Either get ready made modeling clay or modeling dough or make your own using the following recipe.
Traditional Play Dough
• 1 C. flour
• 1 C. warm water
• 2 t. cream of tartar
• 1 t. vegetable oil
• ¼ C. Salt
• Food coloring (optional)
• ½ t. Vanilla extract (or other scent, also optional)
Mix together all the ingredients, and add the vanilla (or other scent) and food coloring (both optional)
Stir over medium heat until the mixture is smooth, then remove from the hot pan and knead until smooth. Let the mixture cool, and if you seal it in an airtight bag, it will keep indefinitely.
You can pat out a small amount on squares of cardboard, and carefully cover with gold or silver foil. Press each guest's name into the top portion and allow them to press their hands into the foil covered clay to create their own star of fame to take home as a party favor.
Let your guests enjoy being in the neon lights by being a star. Your fifteen minutes of fame and name in neon lights is a celebration sure to be fun filled.
