THE YESTERYEARS NAME GAME: Everyone over the age of 40 likes to boast about how good things were in the ‘good old days’. The name game is played by everyone first sitting in a circle. The first person thinks of a famous person’s name and says it out aloud. The next person must then think of a famous person whose first name begins with the letter of the last person’s surname. So, for instance, if the first person were to say Elvis Presley the next person would have to think of a person who’s Christian name beings with a P. The game continues like this. You can introduce forfeits to people who take too long to search for a name and you can choose to only have famous people from before the 1980s. It will involve a lot of forfeits and plenty of arguments but also a lot of laughter and fun. More free

COUNTDOWN CHINESE WHISPERS: For a 50th or 60th birthday party for somebody with a good sense of humor (and friends with a similarly good sense of humor it can be fun to include games that play on the weaknesses that people suffer as they age. Chinese whispers is a perfect one to do just that. All guests sit in a long line and the person at one end should whisper a fairly long sentence in the ear of the next person who then repeats this with the person to him or her and so on.
