Labor Day History and Facts
Labor Day is celebrated in the honor of the work force throughout the world on whose shoulders the entire world is progressing by leaps and bounds. Labor Day is celebrated every year on the first Monday of September. It was in 1882 that the Central Labor Union put forward a request that there should be a holiday for the laborers to regard their commitment to drive the country’s future towards its best interest.
In order to celebrate the Labor Day, there were a lot of different opinions that fell in and a lot of proposals were made, there were suggestions to celebrate it with street parades along with festivals so that the families of the workers have a chance to enjoy and have a good time together. These suggestions were taken into consideration and this has now become the current format on which the Labor Day is being celebrated. It was in 1909 that the Sunday preceding the Labor Day was dedicated to the spiritual and educational aspects of labor movement and still is being followed throughout US.
On Labor Day, there was another tradition that started taking its roots in which the prominent men and women from the society gather along with the attendance of thousands of people and delivered speeches to recognize how big of an asset our workforce is. This not only raises the morale of the people but also energizes them to give their best in their respective fields. Best of all, the families of the workers have a fun time with picnic, barbecues, fireworks etc. It is also being taken as time to enjoy at best and return to work with all the enthusiasm.
